Scifi For Dummies

Consumer capitalism makes people dumb

THE CONSUMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT

(as long as they keep consuming)

Consumerism tells you that the measure of EVERYTHING is your emotional response

Imagine if we did science this way

“Einsteinian relativity didn’t work for me, I’ll be sticking with good ol’ Newton”

And we ARE doing science this way, which is why we have people who believe in Alcubierre Drives, denying climate change and playing Choose Your Own vaxxines.

Because consumer capitalism puts YOU at the heart of every decision, and sidelines science, reason and facts.

So it’s no small irony that many readers pick up Asimov’s FOUNDATION saga then throw it away because it isn’t an easy read.

And we get an “adapation” that dumbs down Asimov for The Average Consumer.

Which is a massive loss. In the midst of the collapse of the American empire we could have had Asimov’s mythic story of American empire in space.

But instead we got Scifi For Dummies.

This is also why the Science Fiction channel video essay on FOUNDATION is heading towards 300,000 views.

Because it’s about the REAL Foundation…
