Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism
There are two visions of this popular internet meme
One is “Left Accelerationism”. Automate everything. Redistribute the wealth as Universal Basic Income. Finally arrive at The Future.
The other is The Culture of Iain M Banks.
Banks’ vision is a far future facilitated by advanced tech and AI “Minds” that govern human society.
Left Accelerationism posits that we can start to realise that vision in the here and now.
Where both these visions differ from traditional leftist thinking is that neither is trying to “destroy” capitalism.
Instead the move is to accelerate capitalism and exploit it for human betterment. Which places both Banks and Left Acc. more in line with Marx than most Marxists.
Late in his life Karl Marx quipped that he needed protection from his Marxist friends. Intellectuals who live to see their ideas become the ideology of others see their ideas twisted into what those others want them to be.
Karl Marx loved capitalism. He was a capitalism booster, and much of our understanding of capitalism comes from Marx description of it.
So if you want to see Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism become a reality, a wise first step is to stop trying to destroy capitalism
and start accelerating capitalism…leftwards
