HOLLYWOOD, CA – In a move sure to thrill fans of endlessly explained lore and on-the-nose dialogue, Legendary Entertainment today debuted “Dune: Exposition,” a new streaming series set to obliterate any lingering shred of subtlety in Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic.
“We heard the fans loud and clear,” said showrunner Baron Harkonnen the Third (no relation). “They loved the visuals, the scope, the intrigue… but all that ‘thinking for yourself’ stuff? Forget it. ‘Dune: Exposition’ will leave no spice fiber of backstory unexplored, no inner monologue un-narrated.”
Viewers can also expect extensive voiceover narration, ensuring no character motivation, however obvious, goes unstated.
“We’re even developing a companion podcast,” Harkonnen the Third added, “where we’ll explain the explanations. Think of it as ‘Dune: Exposition: Explained.'”
The show’s pilot episode opens with a ten-minute CGI sequence depicting the Butlerian Jihad in excruciating detail, complete with pop-up trivia factoids and an optional “skip intro” button that is, ironically, disabled.
Fans are already buzzing with anticipation. “Finally, a ‘Dune’ adaptation that treats me like the simpleton I am!” exclaimed one Reddit user.
When reached for comment, Shai Hulud simply burrowed deeper into the Arrakis desert, a move widely interpreted as symbolic that even a three million year lifespan isn’t worth wasting on this.
Wonderful article.
