The origin of “future sports”

Consumerism
Corporatism
Capitalism

The three C’s of modern civilization

Today it’s becoming obvious to many people that modernity is dead. Consumerism is turning our planet into a junk heap. Corporatism has become a new despotism. And Capitalism has bought our politics so we have no mechanism to make change.

But all of this was much less clear in 1975

when Rollerball skewered the internal contradictions of modernity in one of the greatest cult scifi movies of all time

it also has three of the best “future sports” sequences ever filmed

and features many of the leading American fashion models of the mid 70s

Rollerball is quite a movie
