Damo’s thoughts on Andor (so far)

Andor season 2

Has been less of a big thing than expected. So far.

This is more about the online media landscape than about Andor. TV was once transitory. Watch it or miss it. Streaming shows are becoming more like books. People know Andor will still be there, so are watching it in their own time.

But I also think Andor’s more serious, gritty tone is putting off some “fans*.

And the politics.

The predicted backlash amongst the angry nerdbros is building. The story that Andor is based on Joseph Stalin has been picked up by some MAGA people.

The reactionary right is preparing to hate on Andor for purely ideological reasons (and for clicks)

My next BIG video essay will look at why. Members can access and preview the shooting script.
