There was nothing to say. What could be said had been said.
More words could only be vanity.
Anyone of importance had already spoken. Nothing of great import had been said.
Perhaps if we had been listening things might have gone better.
Than they did.

The only great thing left to do was be quiet.
And keep your ears open.
